Bitcoin’s OP_RETURN war just went nuclear: a chain fork proposal

A Bitcoin fork proposed this weekend would commence an activation period for updating consensus rules to limit data storage unrelated to the on-chain movement of BTC In a dramatic escalation of this year’s OP_RETURN war, pseudonymous dev “Dathon Ohm” revived Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 2017, also called “Reduced Data Temporary Softfork,” that might become BIP 444 if someone codes an activation client and formalizes it on GitHub. The new blockchain would refuse many types of common data storage for media, collectibles, roll-ups, and other novelty or business uses at its base, consensus level.  Specifically, the proposal escalates disagreement over Bitcoin Core v30’s relaxed approach to queuing up to 100KB of arbitrary data per transaction in nodes’ memory pools (“mempools”). It would make such contiguous chunks of data incompatible with the blockchain’s rules for valid transactions — not just mempools’ default standar...

Bitcoin Price Prediction As BitMine’s Tom Lee Says BTC Not Immune To 50% Crashes

Image
The Bitcoin price has risen over 1% in the last 24 hours, trading at $111,331 as of 4:00 a.m. EST, on a 31% decrease in daily trading volume to $50.47 billion. That BTC price increase happened even as Tom Lee, BitMine’s well-known chairman, says that even as Bitcoin becomes more popular with big investment firms, sharp drops of 50% or more are still possible. “Just holding crypto on a balance sheet doesn’t guarantee long-term performance,” he explained, reminding everyone of Bitcoin’s turbulent past. ⚡️TOM LEE: BITCOIN NOT IMMUNE TO A 50% CRASH He warns that even with Wall Street backing, $BTC could still face deep drawdowns, just like the stock market. pic.twitter.com/xOgzIb6YY0 — Coin Bureau (@coinbureau) October 24, 2025   In the last few weeks, Bitcoin has faced rough swings. Is Bitcoin in capitulation territory?

Image
Bitcoin’s (BTC) ongoing volatility below the $110,000 mark is raising questions about whether the asset is destined for further losses, but historical data suggests otherwise. According to on-chain data shared by analyst Ali Martinez, Bitcoin’s trader profit/loss margin currently sits around -5%. Historical patterns show that when this margin drops below -12%, the cryptocurrency tends to rebound strongly, signaling the end of major downtrends. Martinez’s data, retrieved from CryptoQuant on October 22, shows deep negative margins, indicating widespread unrealized losses among short-term holders, which have historically aligned with cyclical bottoms in Bitcoin’s price.  Bitcoin profit/loss margin. Binance listing fee drama goes nuclear

Binance’s help desk has deleted what it called an “excessive” response to a tweet from Limitless Labs CEO CJ Hetherington after he claimed that it attempted to charge him 8% of his Limitless supply, along with $2.45 million in extra payments, to list the token on the exchange. Hetherington, who runs Limitless on Coinbase’s Base, also suggested that Binance, and its favorite founders and affiliates, were dumping on users. In its response, Binance’s help desk fired back, calling Hetherington’s allegations “false and defamatory,” and claiming “Binance does not charge listing fees.”  offer from @binance: > 1% airdrop on day 1, alpha listing > 3% further airdrops in 6 months > 1% for "marketing" at Binance full discretion > provide 100% of TVL for token pool on Pancake Swap ($1M+) > $250k security deposit > 3% reserved for BNB HODLer programme > $200k… — CJ (@cjhtech) October 14, 2025 Hetherington says he didn...
