Avalanche (AVAX) Fails to Hold $21: What's Next for the Coin

The Avalanche (AVAX) cryptocurrency is back trading below $21, currently slumping 10% in the past week and worrying investors. This comes as large holders of the Avalanche token, aka AVAX Whales, are increasing their net inflows of the cryptocurrency, looking to capitalize on the dipping price. Over the past month, AVAX experienced a 3.64% decline while the six-month performance showed a steeper drop of 55.30%. Google Search for “Bitcoin” at a yearly low

Despite Bitcoin (BTC) trading at an impressive $68,000, up 1% on the day and 11.30% over the past week, adding a hefty $130 billion to its market cap—Google Search trends tell a different story.  Finbold Research discovered via Google Trends that search interest for “Bitcoin” has fallen to a yearly low of 33. For comparison, during the same period last year, when BTC was trading at just $28,700, search interest was at 34. Google Trends Bitcoin search. Source: Google Trends Interestingly, this low level of search interest has been consistent, remaining at 33 for the periods spanning from September 29 to October 19. Is Bitcoin’s digital gold status an ‘utter failure’?

Following Bitcoin’s (BTC) crash in the wake of growing conflict between Israel and Iran, questions have emerged regarding the asset’s ability to emulate gold and serve as a hedge in an environment dominated by geopolitical disputes.  In this light, a prominent analyst in the precious metals sector has suggested that after Bitcoin’s latest price movement, the asset’s promise to serve as “digital gold” has become a disappointment, Peter Spina said in an X post on October 2. Spina shared data comparing Bitcoin to gold over the last several years to support this assessment, highlighting a notable disparity in performance.
